There’s a ton of realism in the game. Shell drift, wind and current effects, armor types, all great concepts to work into a game. Unfortunately, the game balance aspects sort of spoil it. You can’t fire if you’re blowing smoke. You can only fire one type of weapon at a time. You’re always limited to three ships, so you wind up with odd fleet compositions, like three battleships with no anti-sub or AAA accompaniment. I’m also struggling with how carriers are used in the game vs. in reality. Even with the “start at long range” option set, carriers usually wind up within range of enemy battleship guns, which is usually a horrid failure for any real commander. Similar for subs (with the “long range” option cleared) starting right at torpedo range. It’s missing the strategic aspects of the Battle Fleet series; you can wind up facing the same ships over and over.
